…. it earned me a client.

For years now, I’ve been a fan of Najla’s. Her chocolate chip cookies are honestly the best I’ve ever tasted. Her “Gone Nuts” spiced nuts are a great addition to my salads and her brand-new Body Good Bar literally feels like it’s good for me going down. I’ve been addicted to her Oatmeal Maple Muffins for a few years and I actually keep them in my freezer and eat them as breakfast or lunch quite often.

I’ve known Najla Aswad, the woman behind the business, for years. She and I had the opportunity to volunteer together at our childrens’ school last spring. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of shouting from the rooftop (virtual or otherwise) about her products. During this time, I’ve actually gotten to know her as a person, as well. Like me, she is a working mom. She has three children and juggles her career along with carpools. I’ve learned about her beyond what goes on in her bakery’s kitchen. Najla believes in clean foods – nothing overprocessed, no hydrogenated anything, no trans fats, no high fructose corn syrup. Her products are all-natural. In my opinion, I’ll go ahead and say it – I think that makes them better. I feel better eating them. I feel better feeding them to my children.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall in her house around dinnertime. All three children help Najla in the kitchen – they can all cook! By participating in the prep-work, the kids are more likely to eat the food, Najla believes.

I once asked her if her children had ever had (my old standard) mac ‘n’ cheese for dinner. Her reply, “Of course! But it was made from scratch.”

You can find Najla’s delicious, all-natural treats all over – not just in Louisville where she’s based. She also ships nationwide.
